Russian insurance market: real indices and prospects
Business handbook presents results of the long-term follow up study by Expert RA Rating Agency over situation on insurance market. The purpose of study is to reveal trends of the real market free of non-risk operations.
Official statistics in 2004 pin pointed slowing down in growth rate of insurance market. Besides, the growth hasn't ceased. The results of the study demonstrate: real insurance market in 2004 increased by 12% (without deductions for obligatory medical insurance), whereas volume of “schemes” decreased almost by 17%.
The authors of the research made the main conclusion, that there is direct evidence of rehabilitation and recovery of insurance market and its refinement from non-risk schemes. In particular, this is demonstrated by a structure change of collected insurance premiums in 2004: sharp decline of life insurance share comparing as compared with 2003 (from 43% to 22%) and predominance of property insurance (32.5% from aggregated premiums).
