Second edition

Expert RA Rating Agency prepared the second edition of business handbook Factoring in Russia. According to results of the research, conducted by the Agency, Russian factoring market kept on rapidly developing in 2005. According to Expert RA analysts, total volume of the Russian factoring market is about USD 5.5-5.8 billion. Thus, market gain for 2005 was 80-90%. The share of factoring transactions in GDP amounted to 0.9% (versus 0.5% in 2004).

In 2005 a number of players on a factoring market tend to increase. According to statistics by the Central Bank of Russia , if in 2004 only 24 banks were engaged in factoring, by the end of 2005 their number was over 100. Several banks followed the path of detaching their factoring departments into independent factoring companies. According to Expert RA analysts' predictions in 2006 this trend will be manifested to a greater extent, especially after resolving contradictions in the legislation concerning necessity to license factoring business. At the same time research results indicate, that the team of the basic players on the market has been formed already and it will be very hard for the newcomers to keep up with the leaders.

The research is based on the materials of questionnaire surveys of factoring companies and contains detailed information about market participants (contact data, major indices of factoring activity, branch structure of a customers base, regional distribution of factoring transactions etc.) and their clients, basic characteristics of factoring transactions. Survey of international factoring market is presented.
