Plenary session at the Second Tula Economic Forum "Factors, mechanisms and perspectives of the Tula region social and economic development"

October 12, 2007

On October 12 a plenary session of the Second Tula Economic Forum was held: "Factors, mechanisms and perspectives of the Tula region social and economic development", participated by:

  • V.Dudka, Tula region governor;
  • K.Androsov, Deputy Minister for economic development and trade;
  • M.Bystrov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for management of special economic zones;
  • Yu.Luzhkov, mayor of Moscow.

"Within recent years local investors in Russia have grown economic muscles and are capable of going to the regions to resolve economic tasks. Moscow investors support housing construction in the regions — presently Moscow gives financial backing to 57 subjects of the Russian Federation. Our planned investments for the Tula region would pay for housing construction of 1 mln sq.m per year", – said Yury Louzhkov at the Second Tula Economic Forum.

According to Maksim Bystrov, "competition" is nowadays a key word in the regions: intellectual, labor, competition of losses etc. Tula’s main advantage is a well established reliable team. Besides, Tula features powerful education potential. The region is close to Moscow, which is also a plus. As a result, Tula may boast all necessary prerequisites for speedy economic development.
