There are lots of historic monuments and landmarks of Vladimir-Suzdal princedom of XI-XII centuries, that are of great attraction for tourists. The only Russian town-museum Suzdal is situated here.

Main industries: machine-building and metal working (tractors and spare parts, diesel locomotives, excavator, motorbikes, TV-sets, household refrigerators, electric motors, electrical appliances, textile industry equipment and precision engineering products). Textile industry (especially cotton manufacture), chemistry (general mechanical rubber and plastic goods, fiberglass), glass (technical glass, cut glass, tableware) industries are also quite developed.
